An Intimate Cheltenham wedding at Pittville Pump Room & No. 38 The Park

Not every wedding needs a packed guest list or a full day of celebrations. Sometimes, getting married surrounded by your closest family is exactly what you want.
That was the case for Sharnie and Harry, who chose an intimate wedding in Cheltenham, with their ceremony at the beautiful Pittville Pump Room and celebrations at No. 38 The Park.
From a relaxed morning getting ready with her little bridesmaids to exchanging vows inside one of Cheltenham's most recognisable buildings, their day was personal, elegant and completely their own.
Getting Ready at No. 38 The Park, Cheltenham
The morning began at No. 38 The Park, a boutique hotel overlooking Pittville Park in Cheltenham.
With its individually designed rooms and stylish interiors, the hotel provided a lovely setting for Sharnie's bridal preparations.
There were gifts to exchange, little bridesmaids getting involved and those final moments before heading off to the ceremony.
As a wedding photographer, I love photographing this part of the day. It's an opportunity to document the people who are there with you, the small details you've chosen and everything happening before the ceremony begins.
For couples planning an intimate Cheltenham wedding, No. 38 The Park is worth considering as a getting-ready location, particularly if you're marrying nearby.
An Intimate Wedding Ceremony at Cheltenham Pump Room
From the hotel, we headed to Pittville Pump Room for the ceremony.
Situated within Pittville Park, the Pump Room is one of Cheltenham's most distinctive historic buildings, known for its grand architecture and elegant interiors.
Sharnie and her partner exchanged their vows inside, surrounded by their closest family.
One of the things I particularly enjoyed about photographing their wedding was how personal everything felt. With a smaller guest list, there was plenty of opportunity to focus on the people who mattered most to them.
And despite Sharnie being a little camera-shy, we created a beautiful collection of photographs without needing to turn their wedding into a photoshoot.
Wedding Photographs Around Pittville Pump Room
After the ceremony, we made the most of the surroundings for some couple portraits.
Pittville Pump Room offers an impressive architectural backdrop, while the nearby park provides a completely different setting within a short walk.
I always aim to give couples a little direction when they need it, without making them feel uncomfortable or overly posed.
For Sharnie and her partner, this meant creating a mixture of elegant portraits and more relaxed photographs together.
If you're planning a wedding at Cheltenham Pump Room, having these different backdrops so close to your ceremony location is a real advantage, particularly when you don't want to spend too much of your day away from your guests.
A Small Wedding Celebration at No. 38 The Park
After the ceremony and photographs, we returned to No. 38 The Park for a small celebration.
I love the contrast between the two locations.
The grandeur of Pittville Pump Room for the ceremony, followed by the character and more intimate atmosphere of a boutique hotel.
We took some additional photographs to document this part of the day, bringing Sharnie's wedding story back to where it had started that morning.
It was a lovely reminder that you don't need a huge wedding reception to create photographs you'll treasure.
